Why Am I Always Tired?

For our hunter-gatherer ancestors, sleep was fluid. People slept when they were tired regardless of the time of day or night. They also slept together in large groups, giving them the assurance that they weren’t alone and were safe in the world. It’s a stark contrast to how we sleep now.

Men like to think that their bodies are machines, but even machines needs time to rest. Work requires us to be awake and present for a minimum of eight hours a day, which discourages naps. Modern devices like TVs and cell phones interfere with our sleep/wake cycles creating tiredness in men. Ignoring the fact that we’re not getting enough sleep or thinking you can make up for it on the weekend can lead to some long-term health issues like diabetes, heart disease, anxiety and depression.

Working with a professional to figure out the cause of why you’re tired can help get your sleep back into a regular schedule.
